Traditional Renovation in Beaumont-Wilshire Main Floor Remodel

This project was co-designed by my daughter and interior designer, Stephanie Welch. The 1926 home in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood of Portland, Oregon was last updated in 1988 and had lost most of its original charm. We opened up walls, but were careful to do so in a way that respects the homes of this era.

Our main goal was to open up and lighten up the space up with a fresh, transitional vibe. We combined current elements alongside traditional materials to create the perfect blend of styles — bright, layered and organic. The space feels refined, polished, and sophisticated, but very accessible, welcoming, and perfectly suitable for family gatherings and entertaining.
