Mid-Century Lake Living Kami's Personal Residence
This is my home. It’s a reflection of me and my family. The homes I create for my clients are unique to who they are—their interests, personality, values, lifestyle, family needs, and budget.
I have a special fondness for mid-century modern homes. These were the homes I played in and babysat neighbor children in while growing up in a small suburb outside of Portland. Our house was built in 1959. It sits high above Lake Oswego and the view is quite stunning, especially in the winter when the leaves have fallen off the trees. The home was in great shape when we bought it and just needed a few cosmetic changes.
- We didn’t move any walls, but we raised the ceilings to expose the vault in the main living area and primary bedroom.
- We refinished the dark-stained wood floors to expose the natural red oak color.
- We put a fresh coat of Pure White from Sherwin Williams on the walls and ceilings.
- We added stair runners From Rejuvenation to make the stairs safer for kids, dogs, and great grandparents.
- We replaced the kitchen tile with 5×5″ Cloe in Blue from Bedrosians and added open shelving from Christopher Original.
- We built out the fireplace and resurfaced it with Shou Sugi Ban wood from Pioneer Millworks.
- We added wallpaper from Mitchell Black to the dining room and adjacent lounge.
- We replaced all the windows on the street side of the house and painted the exterior Graphite from Benjamin Moore.
